How to Declutter Your Vanity

If you are anything like me, you seem to accumulate beauty products like they are going out of style, they can easily become disorganized in piles and drawers full of products like everything from lip gloss to moisturizer. Here are some ways that you can ensure that all of your cosmetics remain organized and you can find what you are looking for, when you are looking for it:

Group like things together. Grouping things together that are similar can help you to find what you are looking for. If you have access to drawers within the vanity consider using drawer organizer which are perfect for everything from tubes of mascara to eyeliner and compacts. These organizers can be created or purchased to fit inside of the drawer and can help you to find exactly what you are looking for.

For a designer inspired way to organize makeup brushes fill pails with small rocks and salts and then place the makeup brushes inside of these pails in a way that the brushes are organized. As the brushes are separated because of the small salts they will not touch each other and remain protected. There are many retail stores that take this approach and it can become an easy do it yourself type of project perfect for a Saturday morning.

As a rule of thumb, most make up comes with an expiry date. There are some pieces that will display this expiry date and others that will not. Mascara and other liquid types of makeup can be used for up to six months after they have been opened, powdered make up compacts can be used for longer.
