Child Communication

A lot of new moms still struggle with the unique language of children. What’s funny about communicating with children is that they only remember the good promises made to them and little else. It can be rather frustrating, but there are some techniques that can help bridge the communication gap between children and moms.

The first rule is to look into their eyes and make sure that they are looking at you straight in the eyes as well. This is needed especially if you are asking them to do something. Never use big words, talk slowly and do not let them interrupt.

Make sure you clearly tell them what needs to be done and the importance of accomplishing it. The other half of the task is to have them repeat what you said to confirm that they are listening to you, let them repeat everything most especially the reason why they need to do it.

When they commit to doing what they promised, they expect that you will do what you promised. Remember that they do not easily forget promises made to them.

Since communication is a two-way street, make sure you listen to what they have to say and listen earnestly. This is important especially if they are relating stories about their feats and accomplishments. Make them feel that whatever they are telling you is as important to you as it is to them.
